Let’s talk about ‘remaster’, what is it? With a simple words we can say, ‘remaster’ is how we can build our own Operating System that reflecting ourself. However, in this case, ‘remaster’-ing is when we modifying an Operating System to be what we want to. That will be including changing the themes, applications, or anything else. So, let’s get in on…
Before beginning to remaster something, we have to preparing the list of application that have to be installed, the image for backgroud, themes, logo, and everything…If we got that, remastering will be just finish in an hour. Incredible isn’t it? (more…)

When your Mandriva booting with grub loader, there is a nice background picture on it. But, maybe we not always comfortable with that picture. As a simple human being, is a normal situation when we not satisfied with something that was not going like what we want (actually, we never satisfied about everything).
So, in this post, I try to share to you how to edit that “boot-splash“. At the first time, I did a little bit confuse. Because in Mandriva, is more complex than bootsplash on Ubuntu. In Ubuntu we just can edit the “/boot/grub/menu.lst” file, and add this command :
splashimage (hd0,x)/boot/image_file.so
But in Mandriva there is steps to change, so lets get in on…

Maybe you still remember about my recent post about SiS VGA card that doenst support 3D at Linux. Now, i’ve got a new solution for this problem. Actually, it’s not my idea. I try this after had a little discussion with Mr. Onno W. Purbo. Yeah, the most famous linux expert in Indonesia.
He told me, there is a very simple solution for SiS VGA. You just have to find a xorg.conf file from any SiS VGA that works in Linux, and then copy it into your X11 directory… (more…)

Hi there, are you having a problems when trying to connect to your Yahoo Account through Pidgin or Kopete ? Because it happened to me. And, at that time, I tought that was an error from the Pidgin or Kopete. But later, when I read a post from a friend on the Facebook, I just knew what is the problem..
The problem is, at the Yahoo server. For some unknown reason, Yahoo has disabling the scs server. And now, we have to change that unavailable server to another valid server. I’ve trying a little complicated way to get that valid server. And, that was very waisting my time. What I’ve done is like these steps :

Firewall is our most powerfull defender. With firewall we can block the intruder or the unwanted packet. For a Win***s user, firewall is a fix firm configuration that can’t changes. Except you understand about the system and how to configurate it. But in openSuSE, It’s a quite simple with Unix system that allowing the user to modifying it.

Hi there…
Now, I’ll discuss about my recent experiment. Since three days ago, I try to install my third operating-system. This third operating system, is one of the linux distro that is popular among hackers, BackTrack. I installed the latest release, backtrack4 beta, which uses Kubuntu 8.10 as the base. In this case, I don’t install it at the primary partition, but at the logical partition with 10 GB capacity.

Mulai dari 2 atau 3 bulan yang lalu, teman-teman di kampusku asyik ngobrolin tentang Windos 7. Soalnya, Microsoft mengklaim bahwa ini adalah produk mereka yang terbaik. Dan saya ikut mencoba versi Betanya saat itu. Memang sih, ada begitu banyak perbaikan yang dilakukan. Sayangnya, ia membutuhkan space yang besar untuk instalasinya. Tapi bukan itu yang ingin saya kemukakan disini, tapi tentang berita terbaru yang saya dapatkan dari http://www.pcworld.com/. Bayangkan saja, baru berumur beberapa bulan, sudah ditemukan bug baru.

Sekarang ini, sudah begitu banyak orang yang mulai tertarik untuk menggunakan sistem operasi Linux. Buat saya, distro Linux yang paling menarik adalah openSuSE. Kenapa? Karena keunggulannya dalam sistem jaringan pastinya.
Tapi, memang dasarnya SiS itu tidak bisa melihat keinginan pasar, seharusnya ia bisa melihat betapa banyaknya pengguna SiS yang kecewa karena ia tidak menyediakan driver khusus buat Linux. Untung saja, para programer pecinta Linux sekarang ini bisa memberikan solusi akan hal ini. Defaultnya, pada openSuSE VGA SiS 671/771 langsung dikenal dengan “AUO LCD MONITOR”. Tapi tetap saja, kita tidak nyaman karena tampilannya yang lumayan besar (resolusinya 1024×768). Jadi harus diganti dulu jadi WXGA yang resolusinya 1280×768.
Lalu, apakah itu sudah cukup memuaskan kita? Pasti belum, pasalnya refresh rate bawaan AUO tersebut masih rendah banget. Nah, sekarang saya mencoba menginstall driver SiS tersebut. Begini caranya :
